The three-year program "School at the heart of community - Prevention of violence through values-based education and critical thinking" focuses on providing professional support to school administrations, teachers and parents, to empower them in their efforts to jointly create a safe environment for every child, provide a sense of belonging and mutual respect, and help them develop the ability to think critically and question the world around them.

proMENTE provided support to COI Step by Step employees in developing the project Logical Framework, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan (MEL plan) including the definition of performance indicators (PIRS). In order to assess the effects of the implementation of program activities, a baseline study was conducted to assess the climate and culture in 15 project schools. The aim of this baseline study was to assess the current situation in schools when it comes to school climate and culture. The results are the basis for comparison with the data collected at the end of the program implementation. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods for triangulation of data from multiple sources was used in the research process. The implementation of this program was permanently canceled due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, and therefore the evaluation was canceled after the baseline measurement.
