External evaluation of the project “Sustainable responses to gender-based violence in BiH” for the implementation period 2011-2016.

The project, implemented by Bosnian non-governmental organisation “Medica Zenica” and funded by Swiss non-governmental organisation “cfd” (Christlicher Friedensdienst), aimed to empower women and girls in villages of Zenica Doboj Canton who are either at risk or have survived violence to live their lives without violence and discrimination and take active roles in their families and community. The project attempts to achieve this through achieving three main outcomes: 1.) economic empowerment, 2.) psychological strengthening and 3.) awareness raising on issue of gender based violence and enhancement of the multi-sector cooperation between relevance stakeholders.

Consultant recruited to conduct this evaluation was proMENTE social research. The evaluation study tried to answer the question if the changes in the outcomes can be attributed to the activities of Medica Zenica, by utilising a quasi-experimental design and a multi-method approach with qualitative and quantitative data combined.
